Since it opened in 1989, Heartland
Park Topeka has always been a favorite of the Patterson Racing
Team. At his home track this weekend, Todd Patterson added another
national event win to his illustrious Competition Eliminator
record. Patterson qualified his brand new B Street Roadster
in the number three spot with a run of 7.95 E.T.
In the first round of 32, Patterson defeated
Michael Johnson and then beat Larry Larson in round two. In
round three, Patterson's run of 7.994 was good enough for a
margin of victory over Chase Williams of 0.0225 seconds.
Up against Patterson-Powered 3-time NHRA World
Champion David Rampy in the semi-finals, Todd Patterson's reaction
time of .014 seconds was on the right side of the light - compared
to Rampy's .004 red light. That win set up a final round identical
to last year's Heartland Park Comp Eliminator final. Patterson
faced Lou Ficco in a B/AA Cavalier. Ficco could not catch him
as Patterson's B/SR made it's quickest run of the event, 7.934
E.T., to take the victory again in 2007. |
